Peter and Jeanne Anderson and their three young children moved from Johannesburg to a farm in the midlands in 1998. They wanted to bring their children up in the beautiful countryside rather than the chaos of the city.
Their Dutch neighbour, MJ Mook, established an artisanal cheesery in 2009. MJ wanted to make cheese the traditional Dutch way using raw milk. Peter and Jeanne bought the cheesery in 2017 and have continued to make cheese in this traditional manner.
